HEADLINE: High school junior to serve as senatorial page in D.C.

Wells High School junior Katie McDonough will spend five months in Washington, D.C., as a senatorial page for the Republican minority. She was appointed to the position by Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine.
McDonough will leave for the capitol in January to live in Daniel Webster Hall with the other pages. She will attend ''Page School'' from 6:45 to 9:45 a.m., then work in the Senate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Page duties include delivering correspondence and legislative material, taking messages, calling members to the phone, preparing the chamber for sessions and carrying bills and amendments to the desk.
McDonough began the application process last February and was notified of her position in November.
She hopes to attend Cornell University to study industrial labor relations.
