Birmingham Brother Rice: Three seniors from the varsity basketball team were honored by the coaches in the Catholic League.

Senior guard Mike Henry (Bloomfield Hills) received Academic All-Catholic honors. He is second on the team in three-point shooting and is fourth on the team in minutes played. His above 4.0 GPA is the highest among his senior teammates and one of the highest in the Catholic League.

Senior guard Tyrone Smith (Southfield) was named All-League. He leads the team in steals and three-pointers. He averages 10 points per game and averaged 18 points against fourth-ranked Orchard Lake St. Mary's during the season.

Senior forward Pat Ebbing (Bloomfield Hills) received All-Catholic honors. He currently leads the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game. He averages 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Birmingham Seaholm:Alessa Cekauskas was selected as one of the 11 Class A students to receive a Michigan High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Award scholarship. She has four letters in volleyball and two in basketball and lacrosse. Her honors include academic all-state volleyball; and all-league, all-region, all-county and all-area in volleyball in 2005 and 2006.

Cekauskas is a two-year member of the National Honor Society. She is involved with student government and a member of the forensics team. She plans to attend Cornell University to study industrial and labor relations.

Field hockey: Several local players made the Michigan High School Field Hockey Association all-state team. Birmingham Marian's Mimi Howlett and Libby Liesveld made the Division 1 first team and Alex Rodriguez was honorable mention. Detroit Country Day's Nancy Denios was also Division 1 honorable mention.

Three Bloomfield Hills Sacred Heart players made Division 2 first team: Sara Levine, Caity Schram and Alex Vincenti. Sacred Heart's Amy Martin was honorable mention.

Becky Ostosh and Audrey Stapleton from Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood were Division 2 first team and Anne Marie Skylis was honorable mention.
