FITCHBURG -- David and Paula Barnicle of Fitchburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Christen Barnicle, to Stephen Schiavo, son of Bob and Fran Schiavo of Northport, N.Y.
The bride-to-be is a 1996 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School, a 2000 graduate of Boston University earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology and a 2003 graduate of Boston University earning a master's degree in reading education. She is a first-grade teacher at the Mary E. Finn Elementary School, Southborough Public Schools, Southborough.
Her fiance is a 1996 graduate of Northport (N.Y.) High School. He is a 2000 graduate of Boston University earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy and a 2002 graduate of Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., earning a master's degree in industrial labor relations.
An August wedding is planned.
