JOSEPH NORELLI NAMED REGIONAL DIRECTOROF NLRB'S SAN FRANCISCO REGIONAL OFFICE

The National Labor Relations Board today announced theappointment of Joseph P. Norelli as Regional Director of theAgency's Regional Office in San Francisco, CA (Region 20). Mr. Norelli has been serving since 1994 as Regional Attorneyin that office. He succeeds Regional Director Robert H.Miller who successfully served as the Director of the SanFrancisco Region for a period of nearly 24 years until hisretirement which will be effective September 3, 2005.
The NLRB administers and enforces the National Labor RelationsAct. It conducts secret-ballot elections to determine whetheremployees desire union representation and it investigates,prosecutes, and remedies unfair labor practices. As RegionalDirector, Mr. Norelli will be responsible for the processingof unfair labor practice charges and representation petitionsin 27 counties in northern California, the state of Hawaii andthe U.S. Territories in the Pacific.
Mr. Norelli joined the NLRB as an attorney in the Office ofAppeals in 1973. He transferred to the Division ofEnforcement Litigation, Appellate Court Branch, in 1976. Hewas promoted to Supervisory Attorney in the Division ofAdvice, Injunction Litigation Branch, in 1979 and was promotedto Deputy Assistant General Counsel in that office in 1980. Mr. Norelli transferred to Region 20 as a Field Attorney in1983. He was promoted to Deputy Regional Attorney in theOakland, CA Regional Office (Region 32) in 1989 and toRegional Attorney in Region 20 in 1994.
In announcing the appointment NLRB Chairman Robert J. Battistaand Acting General Counsel Arthur F. Rosenfeld stated:
We are delighted to announce Joe Norelli's appointment to the Regional Director position inour San Francisco office. He is a gifted attorneywho has demonstrated exceptional managerialability. As Regional Attorney, he has beeninstrumental in the Region?s fine performance overthe years and we are confident that under hisleadership the Region will continue tosuccessfully effectuate the National LaborRelations Act.
A native of Mt. Vernon, NY, Mr. Norelli received a B.S. degree from Cornell University in 1970 and a J.D. degree from FordhamLaw School in 1973.
Mr. Norelli and his wife, Nancy, have two adult sons, Michaeland Jason, and adult twin daughters, Lisa and Jessica.
