David and Paula Barnicle of Fitchburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Christen Barnicle, to Stephen Schiavo.
Miss Barnicle is a graduate of St. Bernard's High School, Fitchburg, and Boston University, where she also received a master's degree in reading education. She is a first grade teacher employed by Mary Finn School, Southboro.
Mr. Schiavo is the son of Bartholomew and Frances Schiavo of Northport, N.Y. He is also a graduate of Boston University and received a master's degree in industrial labor relations from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. He is manager of human resources for Prudential Financial in Hartford.
An August wedding is planned.
