Arctic Slope Regional Corp. names Sweeney VP of external affairs

Arctic Slope Regional Corp. has promoted longtime employee Tara MacLean Sweeney to vice president of external affairs.

Sweeney has held a variety of positions within ASRC during the past 10 years, most recently as director of government affairs representing ASRC in Washington, D.C.

In her new role, Sweeney will manage the corporation’s government affairs, community and corporate charitable contributions, public relations and corporate-wide communications.

Sweeney, an ASRC shareholder from Barrow, received a bachelor of science degree in labor relations from Cornell University.

She is married with two children and is the daughter of the late Rep. Eileen Panigeo MacLean.

ASRC has more than 9,500 shareholders, the majority of whom reside on Alaska’s

North Slope.

The corporation has investments in energy services, petroleum refining and marketing, technical services and construction. It represents eight North Slope villages including Point Hope, Point Lay, Wainwright, Atqasuk, Barrow, Nuiqsut, Kaktovik and Anaktuvuk Pass.
