HEADLINE: Englander & Associates Expands Crisis Communications Practice;
Firm Strengthens Crisis and Litigation Communications Capability

BODY:
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Englander & Associates, a public affairs and issues management firm based in Southern California announced today that it has significantly bolstered its crisis communica-tions and litigation practice with the addition of Dr. Lawrence Ash, a counselor with extensive experience in crisis communications matters. Englander and Associates is frequently called upon by companies, trade associations and gov-ernment entities to provide crisis management and litigation communications support on some of the region's most prominent situations.

Dr. Ash's addition to E&A brings three decades of experience in helping organizations analyze vulnerabilities, re-spond and manage crises before and as they occur," says Harvey Englander. His education includes a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Larry also taught graduate and undergraduate level courses in Economics at the University of North Carolina, the University of Maryland and Webster University.

At the federal level, Larry served in the U.S. Department of Labor as Senior Research Administrator, as a Senior Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator John V. Tunney and as Assistant to the Chairman of the Federal Energy Regula-tory Commission. His business experience includes 15 years as a senior public affairs executive for Southern California Gas Company and Sempra Energy, where he ran the Sacramento governmental relations office.

"Larry specializes in helping prominent corporations and public institutions transform public attitudes rapidly on divisive, high-profile issues. He has worked as a public affairs consultant to clients in a variety of industries including energy, education, entertainment, public safety, food, transportation and environmental management," said Englander.

Englander & Associates currently provides strategic counsel to number of clients on a range of issues, with par-ticular focus on, and experience in, reputation and crisis management, litigation support and financial communications. The many crises and litigation that we have helped manage range from acts of environmental contamination, industrial accidents, federal investigations, investigative media reports and board disputes.

"Englander & Associates has a track record in assisting a wide range of corporate and non-corporate clients not only in counsel and assistance, but also when litigation and crises hits. Increasingly, the issues underpinning legal bat-tles are being debated -- and decided -- in the court of public opinion long before attorneys see the inside of a courtroom. Without a careful and coherent litigation and crisis communications strategy, legal victory can often be distinctly pyr-rhic because of the damage sustained by the reputation of an industry, organization, company or product," said Eng-lander.

"Our approach to crisis communications is to ensure that our clients retain maximum control over their reputation and communications in any given situation -- and do not surrender to the pressures of developing events," concluded Englander.
