Denise D. Knight of Cortlandville, a member of the English Department faculty at SUNY Cortland for the past 16 years, has been awarded the title of distinguished teaching professor by the SUNY Board of Trustees.
The distinguished teaching professor, a rank above full professor, is conferred for outstanding teaching at the graduate, undergraduate or professional levels.
A faculty member at SUNY Cortland since 1990, Knight has taught 16 different courses, ranging from freshman composition to graduate-level courses on 19th century American literature.
Knight earned a certificate in labor studies from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 1981 and graduated summa cum laude from the University at Albany, where she also earned a master's degree and doctorate in English.
