HUDSON -- Joseph A. Finn of Hudson and lifelong Hudson resident, died Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Community Hospice in Columbia Memorial Hospital. He was 71.
Born in Hudson on April 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Delaney Finn. Mr. Finn was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy Hudson, served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951-55, graduated from Columbia-Greene Community College and from Cornell School of Labor Relations. Mr. Finn was a supply room supervisor for the New York State Assembly in Albany. He was the Columbia County Democratic Election Commissioner for 10 years, Columbia County Democratic vice-chair, chair for the City of Hudson Democratic Committee and member of the City of Hudson Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice A. (Farino) Finn, whom he married in 1953; one son, Joseph E. and (Melissa R.) Finn of Hudson; one daughter, Suzan and (Glen) Golden of Duanesburg, N.Y.; two brothers, Rev. Firmin Finn of Latham and James Finn of Hudson; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Joseph, Aurora, and Jaclyn Finn, Kayla Martens, Kurt Adams, Pamela (Matthew) Mienaltowski, Jennifer and Jillian Golden. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Finn and three sisters, Margaret Kenneally, Esther and Theresa Finn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be con celebrated Friday 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Hudson with Rev.'s Firmin Finn and Winston Bath officiating. Burial in the family plot will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, 886 Columbia St. Hudson.
