Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara, a service provider for individuals with developmental disabilities, promoted Cynthia Bootz to vice president of Human Resources. With the agency since 1983, Bootz most recently served as human resource director. She is a graduate from Niagara County Community College and has completed course work through the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations in conjunction with the Society for Human Resource Management.
Buffalo Engineering, a mechanical, electrical, plumbing and energy consulting engineering firm in Buffalo, named Kevin M. Szczesny a mechanical designer/CADD. Szczesny is a graduate from Alfred State College.
StraussGroup Inc., an executive search firm with offices in Williamsville and Rochester, named Sara Vescio an account executive and David Stacey director of the Accounting and Finance Division. Vescio most recently was annual gift officer at Niagara University. Stacey has more than nine years experience in the staffing industry.
The Foundation of Kaleida Health, a not-for-profit charitable organization supporting Buffalo General Hospital, DeGraff Memorial Hospital, Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and the Visiting Nursing Association of WNY, named Elsie Dawe executive director. Currently, Dawe serves as the executive director of the Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo Foundation. In her new role, she will also oversee the adult hospital efforts. She has been associated with the pediatric hospital and its foundation for more than 20 years and has led efforts to raise more than $30 million.
The law firm of Damon and Morey appointed Greta L. Williams an associate in the Real Estate and Banking Department at the Buffalo office. Previously, Williams was an associate at Personius Melber and an assistant district attorney for New York County.
The Buffalo office of Clough Harbour and Associates, an engineering firm, named Karen L. Giambra computer-aided drafting and design operator trainee in its Transportation Division.
The Erie Niagara Chapter of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers elected Dolores M. Funke president. Funke is an engineer with the Erie County Health Department. Other officers are: First vice president, Thomas R. Heins; second vice president, William E. Schutt; treasurer, Peter T. vom Scheidt; secretary, Mark F. Domino, and membership secretary, Ernest R. Hanna. New directors are: William F. Flepser, Douglas J. Goodnick, Donald E. Brokowski and James D. Schneider.
The Albright-Knox Art Gallery appointed Susan C. Reeder director of development. Reed is responsible for strategic advancement of development and membership activities at the gallery. Previously, she was director of development at the Long Beach Museum of Art in California.
Phillips Lytle partner Mark E. Brand was appointed to the St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute board of trustees, the governing body of the school. He previously served on the SJCI Alumni Association board of directors.
